Are You Or Someone You Know Suffering From Knee Pain?
A Personal Message From Knee Specialist Dr. Elena Johnson, PT

My first experience with knee pain started when I was 23 years old. I was living the dream of a ski bum in Vail, CO and teaching snowboarding. It was a beautiful spring skiing day. I went off a jump and landed on a flat. My body had all this momentum to go forward, but my board was stuck to the snow... Ouch!!! Did that hurt! I tore my ACL in half and had to get surgery with months of physical therapy to follow.
That was my story... But knee pain can start without an injury too. Sometimes you just wake up and have knee pain. Sometimes you stepped funny, or hiked for too long, or went for a run, or helped a friend move... When knee pain first starts, it’s easy to think “oh it’s just an ache and will go away tomorrow”. Or maybe you assume you just “it’s normal” because you’re getting older… Then you slowly start giving up certain things like skiing, hiking, dancing. Going up and down the stairs becomes painful, running starts to hurt and you stop going to the gym. What happens next is you get weaker, your knee becomes stiffer and you get stuck in a viscous cycle of doing less and having more pain... Sounds Familiar? Don't worry, you’re not alone. In fact, every day at Healing in Motion Physical Therapy we help people in and around Westminster get over knee pain and enjoy activities they love for years to come. Over the past decade I have helped thousands of people get their mobility and independence back, stop relying on painkillers and even avoid surgery. Are you looking for knee pain relief? Do you want to know why you have knee pain when bending? Maybe you have pain on the outside of your knee when running? Or maybe you have knee pain when walking? If so you came to the right place. You see, when you are dealing with knee pain, everyone asks us the same questions… What is my knee pain diagnosis? (I don’t even know what I did…) Do I need knee surgery? Or worse a knee replacement? What exercises should I do to help my knee? How long does it take for knee pain to go away? Unfortunately, there’s a lot of bad information out there that causes people to live with knee pain for way too long. Here are the 6 most common misconceptions you are likely to find when it comes to finding knee pain relief...
If any of this has happened to you, we want remind you that you’re not alone and we have helped thousands of people get to the root cause of your knee pain and end it for good. In fact, we see people just like you every day. We see people of all ages and fitness levels and what we found was that all of them are making the same mistakes and are in fact are making their knees worse. And that’s why we’ve created a free Knee Pain guide for you. It goes over 8 Mistakes That Are Making Your Knees Worse. By simply being aware of the mistakes you can be on the road to recovery. But maybe you feel like you’ve read a lot of free information on the internet, and really just want to talk to someone about your problem. Is that you? If so, then we have a special opportunity for you (one that VERY FEW clinics offer). We save a limited number of spots each week for time for people who are serious about getting help but are not sure what to do about their knee pain. That way, you can tell a professional your story, and get your question answered first, before ever making a commitment to book an appointment. Does that sound like something you would like to do? Here’s the most important thing… Most people get stuck trying to make a decision about what to do next. They go days, weeks, months (even years!) without taking action. The one thing we can guarantee is that by doing nothing, your knee pain won’t get better. It is likely to progress to hip and back pain. Over the years I have seen hundreds of people that could have avoided surgeries, sciatica or painful back if their knee pain was addressed in time. My advice to you is to stop ignoring it. So the next important thing is to take action. |

C. A. , 58, Arvada
"I had been told by surgeons for the last 8 years to live with a decreasing range of motion, but Elena wasn't okay with that answer. Through a combination of traditional physical therapy, dry needling, and small-muscle strengthening exercises, she has helped me regain an increasing range of strength and dexterity. Every week I see new improvements!!! Thank you, Elena!!!" |
J. I. , 30, Denver"I went to Elene for some pain I was having in my left knee.; I disclosed nothing more and nothing less. Elena was able to ascertain the origin of my knee pain from what I thought were "non-relevant" aches/pains sustained from years of an active lifestyle. Turns out my right foot had a collapsed arch which was causing misalignment of my hips, therefore causing my left knee to bear a significantly greater load/force than my right knee during physical activities. All in all, I walked in with the intention of having my left knee pain alleviated and instead walked out with pain alleviated from my: left knee, right foot, lower back and upper back. I never would have thought theese particular areas needed attention; happy I spent my time here. Many thank, Elena!" |
